I had originally wanted to go to Boiling Point but because my mom was scared of hotpot being too “heaty”, we went next door to Au Wing Kee instead. In the afternoon, the restaurant was almost empty but it was still difficult to catch the waitress’ attention.
Beef Brisket/Tripe/Sinews Noodle in Soup:
This was a small portion of noodles. The beef brisket was a bit stringy but I enjoyed the chewy texture of the beef tripe.
Singapore Style Fried Rice Noodle (Curry Shrimp and BBQ Pork):
Surprisingly, this was a large plateful compared to the other dish! The rice noodles were not too oily and had a mild curry flavour. There was an ample amount of ingredients scattered throughout although the shrimp was completely tasteless.
Au Wing Kee is good for a quick meal. However, the service is atrocious and they give off the impression that it should be an honour if a waitress pays any attention to you. Sheesh, I never knew it was so hard for some people to smile.
